Question Tags and Imperatives

Question Tags and Imperatives

  • Learning English is interesting, isn’t it? (+,-)

  • You can’t miss my new message, can you? (-,+)

    • will you
    • would you
    • can you
    • could you

  • Give me a hand, will you? — Will you give me a hand, please?

  • Shut the door, will you? — Will you shut the door, please?

  • Wait here for a moment, would you? — Would you wait here for a moment, please?

  • Get me something to eat, can you? — Can you get me something to eat, please?

  • Come with me, could you? — Could you come with me, please?

  • Please, don’t say that!

  • Come in, please!

  • Don’t expect quick results, will you?

  • Don’t tell anybody, will you?

  • Be quiet, can’t you? (Can’t you be quiet, please?)

  • Sit down, won’t you? (Won’t you sit down, please?)

Come and have a talk with me!

  • Ask anyone and they will tell you. — If you ask anyone, they will tell you.

  • Say that again and I’ll beat you. — If you say that again, I’ll beat you.

  • Hurry up or you’ll be late. — If you don’t hurry up, you’ll be late.

  • Shut up or I’ll lose my temper. — If you don’t shut up, I’ll lose my temper.

  • Don’t do that again or you’ll be in trouble. — If you do that again, you’ll be in trouble.

  • Walk along the street and you’ll see* flocks of tourists *staring at something here and there. — If you walk along the street, you'll see...

  • Do be more careful.

  • Do sit down.

  • Do forgive me.

  • Do be quiet!

  • Beth come here — everybody else stay where you are.

  • Somebody answer the phone!

  • You just relax for a bit.

  • Relax, everybody.

  • Don’t anybody say a word.

  • Don’t you believe it!
